Other than the Priests and Priestesses of the temple, I may have been the first to see it. I woke with a start in the wee hours of the morning. I dressed quickly and put my hair up into a simple knot. The burst of light was searing. I ran to the temple to investigate.
It was a portal. I had seen one before though never this close. It pulsed with a bright glow that generated no heat. Moonrock said it was whispering an invitation to the great temple of Artherk. I approached it cautiously and listened. There was no mention of Artherk. I heard a calm clear voice telling me of Nazagoth. Nazagoth? I had never heard that name before now. Almost without thinking, I walked through the portal.
I stood on a path. It led to what appeared to be a castle. I found myself moving forward. Inside the castle I wandered through the rooms. There had to be someone here. At last I found the throne room. I was greeted by a man. He spoke of the need of balance between good and evil. How they must co-exist. He warned me a foul plan was afoot by Ogrimar to re-enter Althea. To stop him the other Gods needed some evidence of his plan before they could unite and act. Without hesitation I agreed to help. He smiled and handed a beautiful staff to me. He said it would help. I could feel the magic living inside it.
And then I was back inside the Lighthaven temple. That is when the attacks began. Black Demons were in the streets. The fighting was intense and steady throughout the day. Only with the setting sun did the attacks cease. A search of the bodies revealed a scroll too loathsome almost to touch. It appeared to be written with blood in symbols none could understand. Was this the evidence needed? I made my way back to the temple. Only then did I realize, the Day of Corruption was at an end. . . . |
